Past
I would say that an important part of my past would be during my high school career where I obtained my first leading role in our high school musical. We were doing the Wizard of Oz and I had done this play before during my eighth grade year where I played the role of Glinda. So, naturally I believed that I would reprise my role as Glinda in this high school production because I was a junior that year and that meant that I had a better chance of getting a lead than the freshmen and sophomores. I tried my best at the auditions and the callbacks and i waited for the email containing the cast list to come out. I had thought it out very much, seeing who was my "competition" and what parts I could do and what I couldn't. One part that didn't even cross my mind that I would get was the part of the Cowardly Lion, but that was the exact part that I got. At first I was very, very intimidated because that was one of the main leads of the Wizard of Oz. I also was intimidated because I had never played a funny role before. I had to take a breather and really think about what I was getting myself into. Eventually I came to the conclusion that this was a challenge that I was completely willing to take. I worked on my character tons and I ended up putting on a performance that I never knew I was capable of and afterwards I had such a sense of accomplishment and pride because I wasn't so "cowardly" anymore.

Present

I would say a very important part of my present would be taking my very first special education class. I always have known that I wanted to be a special education teacher but coming here to Bloomsburg University has helped me get closer to my dream. I always had one fear in my mind though: what if special education is not for me? However, when I attended my first special education class I was so very pleasantly reassured that special education is what is right for me. My teacher is such an inspiration and makes the class so interesting and understandable. While sitting learning in that class, I hear stories of special education teachers helping out students with disabilities. From hearing these stories, I feel a sense of accomplishment because I have finally come to Bloomsburg to achieve my dreams of becoming a special education teacher so I can do just what these teachers are doing, which is helping students.

Future

What I can imagine would be a very important part of my future would probably be my first day of teaching in my special education classroom. I hope that on my first day I feel confident and proud to be there. I hope during my first day I help out one of my students and I really have a connection with them because that is all I have ever wanted to do.
